Looking like a streamlined rocket, a 52-foot long steel "needle" dwarfs Dominion Bridge riggers guiding it into place atop Calgary's Husky Tower. Two cranes of 12 1/2 and 7 1/2 tons were needed to hoist the 40-ton needle onto its "pad." With the needle in place, the tower reached a total height of 610 feet, the highest structure of its kind in North America at the time.
