Look east along Jasper Avenue in 1914, just as downtown Edmonton was hitting its stride. Electric streetcars glide past busy storefronts, advertisements crowd the brick façades, and pedestrians fill the sidewalks, all signs of a city booming with confidence. Only a few years after Edmonton and Strathcona united, Jasper Avenue had already become the commercial centre of the provincial capital. The Alberta Hotel, featuring it's distinctive turret, was later rebuilt and now serves as the home to CKUA Radio.
This vibrant snapshot preserves the hum of everyday life in a rapidly modernizing city, celebrating the history and energy that still define Jasper Avenue more than a century later.
